Is it possible to install SGD and Visulox Service on the same server?
It is possible to install SGD and Visulox Service on the same server, but in production environments, the recommended setup includes redundant SGD and Visulox Servers installed on separated hardware with a redundant database.
Installing SGD and Visulox Service on the same server should be used only for testing and demo purposes.
Does installation of the Visulox Service change SGD settings?
The Visulox Service adjusts only one setting of SGD (setting is changed to have independent XPE for each user/application). No SGD files are replaced during installation.
During installation some additional expect scripts, used by the Visulox Service will be copied to the according SGD folders. File Transfer setup also adds some JSP pages.
The Visulox Services are running in the background after installation, and if the services are stopped, it is possible to use SGD as before.
What users are created on the servers?
The following users are created:
-
On SGD and Visulox Servers: tbs/ttaserv
This user is for the Visulox Service (Recorder, Management Desk, etc). With the tbs user we have an intercommunication based on a common SSH key. -
On SGD Servers: tbsdemo/ttaserv
The tbsdemo user is for the demos we provide. It can be removed -
On SGD Servers: Visulox Webservice User
For each Visulox Service we need a user to access the webservices as an SGD Administrator.
Do the Visulox Components require root privileges?
The Visulox Service itself doesn’t require root privileges.
However, Webtopsession Distribution (tarantella status —byeserver), Virtual Interface (running ifconfig) and the FileTransfer Module need root privileges.
