What database should be used with Visulox Service?

Visulox Service is using a SQL Database for all informations, except film chapters. Postgres and Oracle are supported.

If the tablespace is about 750 MByte, it is little for the database but enough for the Visulox Service, storing data for many years.

In a production environment we recommend Oracle. For testing purposes Postgres is fine.

ToolBox Solution has no tools or implementations to store the information redundant. This has to be done by the database administration.

Is it possible to use a Visulox Server and an Visulox Archive Server with different databases (Postgres/Oracle)?

It is possible to use different databases on the Visulox Servers and the Visulox Archive Server. Both clients (Postgres and Oracle) have to be installed on the Visulox Archive Server, because the Archive Server has to connect to the Visulox Server Database and to the Visulox Archive Database.

Does the Oracle DB need an specific name?

No. The Oracle admin provides a file (tnsname.ora), which has the SID record for the database.

And if we do not have the right to setup the Visulox tables, we send the SQL-Script (tbs.sql) to the Oracle Admin, to do this for us.
